Reporting, Complaints and Content Removal Policy – LocalChoice.in

Last Updated: 26 October 2026

At LocalChoice.in, we want people to feel safe when browsing and posting classified advertisements.

Our platform allows registered individuals and businesses to publish advertisements for permitted products, services, property, jobs, and other opportunities. We do not encourage fraud, illegal activities, exploitation, or content that puts people at risk.

This policy explains how you can report a suspicious advertisement, raise a complaint, request content removal, and bring a serious concern to our attention.

1. What Can You Report?

You can report any advertisement, account, or activity on LocalChoice.in that you believe is fake, misleading, harmful, prohibited, or unlawful.

Examples include:

  • Fake advertisements or misleading product descriptions.

  • Fraudulent sellers, buyers, businesses, or service providers.

  • Scams, phishing attempts, and suspicious payment requests.

  • Fake job offers or fraudulent recruitment schemes.

  • Misleading property listings or false ownership claims.

  • Illegal drugs, prohibited weapons, explosives, or other unlawful goods.

  • Pornographic or sexually explicit material prohibited by our platform rules or applicable law.

  • Sex solicitation, sexual exploitation, or human trafficking.

  • Child sexual abuse material or attempts to exploit or endanger children.

  • Harassment, threats, blackmail, stalking, or abusive content.

  • Non-consensual intimate images or unauthorised disclosure of private information.

  • Stolen goods, counterfeit products, or intellectual property violations.

  • Spam, duplicate advertisements, impersonation, or misuse of user accounts.

  • Any other content that violates our Terms and Conditions or Posting Rules.

You may also contact us if you believe your own personal information, photograph, business identity, or other protected material has been published without appropriate permission.

2. How to Report an Advertisement

If you encounter a suspicious or prohibited listing, please contact us using our official support email.

Email: support@localchoice.in

Include the following details where possible:

  • The advertisement URL or listing ID.

  • The title of the advertisement.

  • A short explanation of the problem.

  • Any relevant information that helps us understand the concern.

  • Your contact details, if you would like us to respond.

Please provide only information that is relevant to your report. Do not send passwords, financial account credentials, or unnecessary sensitive personal information.

If you suspect child sexual abuse material, do not download, copy, attach, forward, or redistribute it. Send us the listing link or other identifying details where safe and appropriate, without circulating the material.

3. What Happens After You Submit a Report?

We take reports seriously and review them according to their nature, urgency, and available information.

Depending on the circumstances, our process may include:

  1. Reviewing the complaint: We examine the reported listing and the information provided.

  2. Assessing the concern: We consider whether the content may violate our policies, create a risk to users, or require urgent action.

  3. Taking appropriate action: We may request clarification, restrict visibility, remove the advertisement, or suspend the associated account.

  4. Escalating serious cases: Where necessary, we may preserve relevant information appropriately and report suspected offences to the relevant authorities.

  5. Following up: Where appropriate, we may contact the reporting person for additional information or provide an update.

We may not be able to share the details of our investigation or actions taken against another user, particularly where privacy, security, or legal obligations prevent disclosure.

4. Urgent Reports: Child Safety and Serious Criminal Activity

LocalChoice.in has zero tolerance for child sexual abuse, child exploitation, human trafficking, and other serious illegal activities.

Reports involving the following will receive urgent attention:

  • Child sexual abuse material or suspected sexual exploitation of a minor.

  • Attempts to groom, recruit, traffic, or abuse children.

  • Human trafficking, forced labour, or serious exploitation.

  • Illegal drug trafficking or serious weapons-related offences.

  • Credible threats of violence or other serious criminal activity.

Where appropriate and lawful, we may immediately restrict access to the content or account, preserve relevant information, and report the matter to the appropriate law enforcement or statutory authorities as required by applicable law.

We will comply with applicable reporting obligations and lawful requests from authorised authorities.

If a person appears to be in immediate danger, contact the appropriate emergency services or law enforcement directly. Do not rely solely on an email to LocalChoice.in for an emergency response.

5. Fake Advertisements and Scams

If you believe an advertiser is attempting to scam users, please report the listing as soon as possible.

Examples include:

  • Requests for advance payments under suspicious circumstances.

  • Offers that appear deliberately misleading or unrealistically attractive.

  • Fake seller or business identities.

  • Requests for passwords, banking details, or one-time passwords.

  • Fraudulent rental deposits or fake property offers.

  • Fake employment opportunities involving registration fees or security deposits.

  • Listings involving stolen goods or unlawful activities.

If you have already transferred money or shared sensitive financial information, contact your bank or payment provider promptly and report the matter to the appropriate authorities.

In India, suspected cybercrime can also be reported through the official National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal at https://cybercrime.gov.in. For urgent financial cyber fraud, you may call India’s cybercrime helpline at 1930.

Reporting an advertisement to LocalChoice.in does not replace reporting a crime to the relevant authorities.

6. Privacy and Confidentiality of Reports

We handle information submitted through reports for purposes such as reviewing complaints, protecting users, investigating misuse, improving platform safety, and meeting applicable legal obligations.

We aim to limit access to reporting information to what is reasonably necessary.

However, we cannot guarantee absolute confidentiality in every situation. Information may need to be disclosed where required by law, through a valid legal process, or where necessary for lawful reporting and investigation.

Please avoid sharing another person’s sensitive personal information unless it is necessary and appropriate for your report.

7. False, Malicious, or Abusive Reports

We encourage users to report genuine concerns in good faith.

Please do not use the reporting process to harass competitors, target another person maliciously, make knowingly false allegations, or attempt to have legitimate advertisements removed unfairly.

We may restrict or take action against accounts that repeatedly misuse the reporting process, subject to applicable law.

A report that cannot be substantiated is not automatically considered malicious. We will consider the available information and circumstances.

8. Requests to Remove Personal Information or Infringing Content

If an advertisement contains your personal information, photograph, business details, copyrighted material, trademark, or other protected content without appropriate permission, you may contact us to request a review.

Please provide:

  • The URL or details of the relevant advertisement.

  • A description of the information or content at issue.

  • An explanation of why you believe it should be removed.

  • Any reasonable information needed to verify your request or authority to make it.

We will review the request and take appropriate action where warranted by our policies or applicable law.

We may request further information before making a decision. Removal from LocalChoice.in may not immediately remove copies stored by search engines, third-party websites, or other users.

9. Response Times and Review

We aim to review reports as reasonably promptly as possible.

The time required may depend on the seriousness of the report, the information provided, the complexity of the matter, and whether additional investigation or external assistance is necessary.

Serious safety concerns and suspected criminal content may require urgent attention. We do not guarantee a fixed response time for every report.

Where appropriate, we may contact the reporting person for clarification or provide an update.

10. Appeals and Review Requests

If your advertisement has been removed or your account has been restricted and you believe this happened in error, you may contact us at support@localchoice.in.

Please include your account details, the relevant advertisement link or ID, and a brief explanation of why you believe the decision should be reviewed.

We may reconsider the decision based on the available information. Any further action will depend on the circumstances, our policies, and applicable law.

We may maintain restrictions where the content remains prohibited or presents a legitimate safety, security, or legal concern.

11. No Guarantee That Every Listing Will Be Detected

LocalChoice.in makes reasonable efforts to address reported violations, but we cannot guarantee that every fake, misleading, or prohibited advertisement will be identified before publication or before someone views it.

Users should independently verify important details before making payments, sharing sensitive information, accepting job offers, or entering into transactions.

If you encounter a suspicious listing, please report it rather than assuming it has already been reviewed.

12. Changes to This Policy

As LocalChoice.in grows, we may update this Reporting, Complaints and Content Removal Policy to reflect changes in our services, reporting procedures, or applicable legal requirements.

The latest version will be published on this page with an updated date. Where appropriate, we will notify users of significant changes through our website or other suitable communication channels.
